Test for Chronic Wasting Disease(CWD) Codon 96 for White-tailed Deer.

Codon 96 is a genetic test that tests for the genetic influence of Codon 96 on incubation time of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in white-tailed deer. Animals are able to shed infectious prions into the environment in feces, urine, and saliva during the incubation period. Incubation time of CWD is influenced by a number of factors such as dose, route of exposure and genetics. For Codon 96, shorter incubation periods are associated with Glycine (G) whereas Serine (S) is associated with longer incubation periods. Therefore, deer who are GG at Codon 96 have the shortest incubation period, deer with GS have a medium incubation period and deer with SS have the longest incubation period for CWD.

Codon 96 is $18 per sample.
