Dermatosparaxis
Found primarily in White Dorper sheep and crosses thereof, Dermatosparaxis is a genetic mutation caused by the production of an abnormal form of collagen in the skin, resulting in extreme fragility. Lambs affected by Dermatosparaxis suffer from easily torn skin, which leads to bleeding and infection risk. Due to the severity of this condition, Dermatosparaxis usually results in the death of the animal, either from natural causes or necessary euthanasia on the part of the breeder.
